WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman Andrew Clyde (GA-09) released the following statement after voting in favor of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year (FY) 2024, which passed this morning by a vote of 219-210:

“As a 28-year Navy combat veteran, ensuring we maintain the most lethal fighting force in the world is one of my top priorities in Congress. This year’s NDAA achieves that critical goal by adequately funding, equipping, and supporting our military. In addition to bolstering our defense capabilities, delivering the largest pay raise to servicemembers in over two decades, and countering China’s malign influence, this NDAA includes conservative measures to eliminate woke policies that the Biden Administration has shamelessly injected into the Department of Defense. From barring taxpayer-funded abortion travel services and gutting DEI initiatives to prohibiting coverage for transgender surgeries and preventing the spread of Green New Deal policies, the FY24 NDAA forcefully rejects the Left’s radical woke ideology being forced on our servicemembers. While I believe we can certainly do more to eradicate President Biden’s politicization and weaponization of the DOD, I’m pleased that the NDAA takes tremendous steps toward returning our military to its core mission. I encourage the House and Senate to uphold this effort in conference so we can prove to the American people that Congress is united in prioritizing the strength of our military over harmful woke agendas.”
