WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman Andrew Clyde (GA-09) led over 30 of his House Republican colleagues in a letter to President Donald Trump advocating for the next U.S. Attorney General to execute key Second Amendment priorities.

The lawmakers outline a clear, actionable roadmap consisting of three critical Second Amendment priorities:

1. Immediately Cease Enforcement of Biden-Era Gun Rules and Secure Permanent — Not Temporary — Relief

2. Stop Defending Unconstitutional Gun Laws in Court

3. Rein in the ATF and Reform its Culture

Following detailed action items within these priorities — which require no new legislation, the lawmakers highlight the importance of delivering these victories to gun owners across the country.

“Mr. President, American gun owners have been some of your most loyal and enthusiastic voters. They delivered for you at the ballot box, and they deserve to see their constitutional rights respected in return. The roadmap above requires no new legislation – it only requires leadership, will-power, and a Department of Justice that is genuinely committed to your agenda rather than protecting its own institutional inaction.”

Rep. Clyde and his colleagues close by underscoring the importance of an Attorney General who is committed to restoring Americans’ Second Amendment liberties.

“The Declaration of Independence – the birth certificate of our nation – proclaims that all men are endowed with certain unalienable rights, among them Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness, and that government exists solely to secure those rights. The Second Amendment is the practical guardian of those God-given rights, ensuring that free citizens retain the ultimate means to defend their lives, their liberty, and their families. When the DOJ defends unconstitutional gun regulations and the ATF is weaponized against law-abiding Americans, the government has betrayed its founding purpose.
