CLYDE: Fight Against Speaker Pelosi's Unconstitutional Magnetometers is Just Getting Started

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman Andrew Clyde (GA-09) released the following statement in response to the recent decision in his lawsuit against Speaker Pelosi’s unlawful magnetometers on the House floor and subsequent fines for alleged violations:

“While it’s certainly disappointing that it took almost eleven months to arrive at this adjudication, I have long anticipated that this matter would be resolved at a higher court. There’s still a long battle ahead, but I truly believe this is a just fight, as it is in the defense of my constituents’ vote — which has been indefensibly impeded by Speaker Pelosi’s authoritarian actions. Furthermore, while it is true that Congress is a separate and coequal branch that has the authority to make its own rules for internal governance, it is also true that those rules still must abide by the U.S. Constitution.

“Additionally, the flagrant hypocrisy and political games that have plagued this unconstitutional rule cannot go unchecked. The Speaker has shamelessly abused her power to advance a dangerous political narrative, setting a perilous precedent that would have our Founding Fathers rolling in their graves. I’m proud to have filed suit against Speaker Pelosi’s unlawful magnetometers and related fines, and I look forward to the next opportunity in this process in our pursuit of justice.”
