Rep. Clyde Continues to Fight Back Against Biden's Unconstitutional COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate

In every way, we must challenge this blatant power grab that further weakens our fragile economy, makes communities less safe, and completely disregards Americans’ fundamental freedoms.

 – This week, Congressman Andrew Clyde (GA-09) joined many of his Republican colleagues in their shared goal of standing up against President Biden’s sweeping COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

“As crime surges in numerous urban areas throughout the country, the border crisis rages on, and workforce shortages continue to negatively impact our economy, Biden is forcing Americans out of a job if they refuse to get the jab," said Clyde. "Just this morning, Biden released his authoritarian OSHA rules that dictate health decisions for more than 100 million American workers. Under the Administration’s medical tyranny, first responders, U.S. Border Patrol Agents, and federal contractors all face termination or loss of contracts if they refuse to comply with an unconstitutional vaccine mandate. In every way, we must challenge this blatant power grab that further weakens our fragile economy, makes communities less safe, and completely disregards Americans’ fundamental freedoms.”

On Wednesday, Rep. Clyde joined House Committee on Oversight and Reform Ranking Member James Comer (R-KY) and Oversight Republican lawmakers in sending a letter to U.S. Department of Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, General Services Administration Secretary Robin Carnahan, and Office of Management and Budget Acting Director Shalanda Young requesting all information and documents related to the Biden Administration’s Executive Order (E.O.) requiring employees of federal contractors to be vaccinated against COVID-19 or face termination. The Administration’s E.O. expansion covers police departments, fire departments, and other vital local organizations across the country. Read the letter HERE

Rep. Clyde also recently sent a letter with Republican members of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Border Security, Facilitation, and Operations, including Ranking Member Clay Higgins (R-LA), Vice Ranking Member Michael Guest (R-MS), and Rep. Dan Bishop (R-NC), to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas requesting that DHS provide detailed information on the number of fully vaccinated Border Patrol employees, its plan for employees who do not comply with the vaccine mandate, and how it will address attrition due to the mandate. Read the letter HERE.

Additionally, Rep. Clyde joined Rep. Madison Cawthorn’s (R-NC) press conference on Monday to support first responders in their fight against President Biden’s vaccine mandate.

Today, the Biden Administration rolled out details for the plan, including two vaccination rules covering more than 100 million workers. The rules, issued by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are set to take effect on January 4, 2022.

Rep. Clyde is also a cosponsor of Rep. Andy Biggs’ (R-AZ) Freedom from Mandates Act and Rep. Madison Cawthorn’s (R-NC) Justice for All Businesses (JAB) Act.
