GAINESVILLE, GA— Last week, Congressman Andrew Clyde (GA-09) hosted a reception at Luna’s Restaurant in Gainesville to honor the five young men from the Ninth District who have received an appointment to one of the United States Service Academies: U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. During the event, Congressman Clyde delivered congratulatory remarks and presented each of the nominees with a Certificate of Congressional Recognition. The following candidates received an appointment to one of the U.S. Service Academies:
Background: Each year, Congressman Clyde nominates eligible candidates for appointment to four of the five U.S. service academies: U.S. Military Academy (USMA), West Point, NY; the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA), Annapolis, MD; the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA), Colorado Springs, CO; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), Kings Point, NY. The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA), New London, CT, does not require a congressional nomination for appointment.
